PROSTARS FC JOINS L1O WOMEN'S DIVISION FOR 2022 SEASON

Updated: Jan 26, 2023

Prostars FC has been granted a license to join the League1 Ontario’s Women’s Division for the 2022 campaign, marking the club’s return to the top-level of women’s football in Ontario for the first time since 2015, when it was one of the original seven teams in the league’s debut season.

Prostars FC, which was founded in 2012, are excited to return to the Women’s Division after taking some time to “regroup,” as Technical Director Josef Komlodi puts it, and they are very committed to investing resources towards the growth and development of the women’s game within their organization and their community.

The club, which operated a women’s team in the 2021 L1O Reserve Division, is supported by Gabriella Trichilo, who is a UEFA “A” licensed coach and who will serve as Technical Advisor to the program.

“The game is bigger than just kicking the ball around,” Komlodi said. “We want to go the extra mile make sure these ladies feel they can do something different and it's going to influence the future generation of female leaders.”

“We are extremely proud to represent this community in League1 on the Men's side for many years and now are even more proud to represent them on the female side of the game as well,” said Trichilo. “We are truly honoured to help the female side of soccer grow in Canada and very happy to be included in the expansion of the league for the 2022 season.”
