The Future of Soccer in Canada

League 1 Ontario Soccer is a semi-professional soccer league in Ontario, Canada. It is sanctioned by the Canadian Soccer Association and Ontario Soccer and provides a professional pathway to the Canadian Premier League. The 2023 season will feature 10 teams competing in a 30-game regular season, plus playoffs. Teams will compete for the championship cup, with the winner also qualifying for the Canadian Championship. The season will start in May and run through October.


League 1 is also available in other provinces across Canada, such as British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Quebec, and Nova Scotia. The leagues in these provinces operate similarly to League 1 Ontario and feature similar formats, such as a 30-game regular season and playoffs. The winners of each provincial league also qualify for the Canadian Championship.


League 1 Women is a separate, semi-professional soccer league for women in Ontario, Canada. It is sanctioned by the Canadian Soccer Association and Ontario Soccer and provides a professional pathway to the Canadian Premier League. The league features 6 teams competing in a 20-game regular season, plus playoffs. Teams compete for the championship cup, with the winner also qualifying for the Canadian Championship. The season will start in May and run through October.
